(BDAG) was established in 1997.
What Training methods are used? BDAG focuses solely on reward based training and a "Yes! That's right" using a marker signal. Rewards are any thing that the considers rewarding. Is food used as a training aid?
Yes, definitely! Once something has been learned, rewards are used on a random basis. Being unpredictable when rewarding known behaviours will keep the dog trying, just like the fisherman keeps fishing in the hope of a fish.
What equipment on the dog is acceptable? Fixed collar, Head Halters, Harnesses, Coats, Premier collar. Lead – double ended preferred ( able to be used as a long lead or shorter or around the waist or around a post without having to take the lead off the dog) These are all acceptable pieces of equipment.
All of our instructors have completed a formal instructor’s course in house over 12 months. Others have a Certificate IV in Behavioural Dog Training, the only tertiary accreditation in Australia for dog trainers. Our instructors participate in various dog activities and sports, have extensive practical experience. They are well read and keep their knowledge & skills up-to-date via discussion groups, hands-on workshops, conferences and seminars.
How are our classes conducted? Each class level has a syllabus, lesson plans, at-home training exercises that are taught. Each week, we want you to be putting into practise the skills we teach you. As well as addressing problems and learning new skills. .How many dogs are in each class? We have small classes, maximum of 8 dogs per instructor. Booking is necessary for all blocks because of class sizes.

When is payment due?
Payment needs to be made prior to commencement of training. Each year membership needs to be renewed and block fees need to be paid prior to commencement of the block.
How long do the classes go for?
Each class runs for 45min minutes approx.
Where and when are the classes held?
At the Geelong Showgrounds, Cattle Pavilion every Thursday of school terms, except for the 4th term, when the Geelong Show requires a later start to the term. Enter via Breakwater Rd gate (Mel Ref 452 E10)
Do you have a guarantee?
There is no such meaningful thing as 'guaranteed behaviour' for a dog, or a dog's owner! However, we guarantee to show you the most effective, efficient, easy and enjoyable training method for your dog.
Can I observe a lesson first?
Yes. We have ample space both inside and outside and welcome anyone who makes arrangements to watch, you cannot bring your dog when just observing. Contact persons. |
